Yuri Chimpanzee
Yuri was also required to take pictures with people. But luckily, his fate has completely changed. On May 6, 2009, he was sent to the Anami Institute, being the last circus chimpanzee to be rescued before this practice became illegal. Very humanized and weakened, he cried and didn't want to eat, probably missing his human family with whom he lived for 13 years.

Yuri

Male. DOB: 1996, approximately, in a circus. For many years, Yuri was exploited in a circus and subjected to a dangerous act, the so-called Globe of Death. Along with 4 other human bikers, he rode his motorcycle inside the Globo and was forced to wear biker clothes, doing an average of three shows a day. In his spare time, he was locked in a small, low cage, which did not allow him to stand up, which caused him to deform his spine. Yuri was also required to take pictures with people. But luckily, his fate has completely changed. On May 6, 2009, he was sent to the Anami Institute, being the last circus chimpanzee to be rescued before this practice became illegal. Very humanized and weakened, he cried and didn’t want to eat, probably missing his human family with whom he lived for 13 years. But, in a short time, Yuri had a real family, the chimpanzees Lucy and Noel, with whom he still lives today. He helped Lucy raise the little chimpanzee as if he were her father, protecting and playing – letting the mother rest peacefully for a few moments. Today, Yuri behaves like a chimpanzee and doesn’t care much about people.
