Tyson arrived at the Sanctuary in 2008, when Ibama (Brazilian Environmental Institute) confiscated all the animals from Le Cirque Circus, in Brasília.
He was kept together with another chimpanzee, Jeber, in a precarious trailer of tiny size, amidst feces and food scraps.
In the circus, he was castrated and had all his teeth pulled out. He was obedient and more sociable than Jeber and greatly enjoyed playing and observing the lake and forest near his enclosure.
He lived very well with his companion Jeber for 13 years in the sanctuary. They were very close and always defended each other when they felt threatened.
He died on May 24, 2021.
