She arrived at the Sanctuary in 2006. She is the sister of Carlos, Claudio and Vitor, but she never met them because she was sold to the circus as a baby.

She is a large and dominant female with a strong personality. She has a habit of walking upright quite frequently, especially to show her size and intimidate others. She likes to wear clothes and makes a kind of skirt with fabrics to walk around the enclosure. She lived for some time with chimpanzee Leo and today lives with chimpanzee Martin and, despite her temperamental nature, Monica knows how to respect him.
