He is the son of Peter and Táta, a chimpanzee who arrived at the Sanctuary already pregnant. He is the older brother of Miguel and Milan. He is extremely affectionate, sociable, and playful.
Marcelino enjoys making nests by cutting the blanket into several pieces and observing the movement of other chimpanzees through the basket at the top of the platform. He is very active, always alert, but at the same time very calm.
He needed to be removed from his family group because as he grew older, he began to compete for dominance with his father. At this time, when Marcelino was in need of companionship, the chimpanzee Cecilia arrived at the sanctuary from Argentina. The two were slowly introduced and quickly showed compatibility and interest in each other. This provided Cecilia with a faster adaptation and a happier life for both of them.
