He was taken from his mother a few days after his birth and sold to a circus. He lived many years of his life in Circo Estoril and had relationship problems with humans, which were overcome at the Sanctuary.

Luke was very intelligent and affectionate and greatly enjoyed interacting with humans he trusted. Due to his traumatic past, unfortunately Luke did not accept living with other chimpanzees, as he had lived in isolation for a long time. He was the protector of the Sanctuary, observing all events and always keeping an eye on everything.

He passed away in 2021.
