Bruna lived at Garcia Circus for 15 years confined to a small cage. When she was rescued to be transferred to the Sanctuary in 2004, her cage had to be cut open to remove her, as her size prevented her from getting out.
From a very young age, Bruna was kept in the same cage. She developed without ever getting out and at the time of her rescue she was bigger than the cage door. As a result of the severe trauma of being trapped in an extremely small place, she suffers from claustrophobia to this day. That’s why, rainy or shine day, she prefers to stay out in the open area, especially in the baskets on top of the houses, where she makes her nest to sleep peacefully.
Despite this sad story, Bruna is calm, gentle and docile and lives peacefully with her brother, Carioca.
