He was rescued from a traveling circus in Minas Gerais, Brazil, and transferred to the Sanctuary in 2011. He had no teeth and arrived with a chain around his neck. It is known that he lived for over 30 years in a small cage inside a closed trailer, along with a bear. His cage was very dirty, and Bob would push old food and feces to the corner to avoid being in the middle of the filth.
He adapted very well to life in the Sanctuary. He was living with Margarete, and they had a very peaceful relationship. Bob was a small chimpanzee in size, but big in his affection.
Bob passed away in 2016.
