BOA KILLS BABY

North-American society wakes up a little more every year about cases of wild animals that live in family houses and end up causing serious accidents, sometimes fatal. United States has a extremely liberal legislation about the ownership of wild animals by population and, due to the cruel reality, this is slowly changing.

Let’s see a recent case of a three-meter albino boa from Burma that was not fed correctly, got out of its terrarium, looked desperately for food and attacked a two-year old baby who lived in the house. The boa called Gypsy was found hanging the body of Shaianna Hare, with the teeth sticked in her forehead. The accident happened at Summer county, in Florida.

This happened 18 months ago and caused an uncontrolled hunting of the population of all boas from Burma and other snakes, that have been reproducing with no control in the wet and hot environment of Florida peninsula after have been abandoned due to the killing of Shaianna.

North-American society, Brazilian and every society in the world must reflect about this case, which is a consequence of a too permissive legislation that enables the trade of wild animals, who should live on their natural habitat and not in family houses, which are not prepared to keep them.
