GAP Project Spain is campaigning worldwide, along with the Dutch Foundation Free Morgan, to secure the release of this whale, named Morgan, in the ocean. She was rescued with injuries on the coast of Holland, was treated and then sent to a water park in Tenerife, Spain, called Loro Parque, which is a bad example of a water park.
One of the most powerful arguments to justify the release of this whale, and of all other prisoners who are in small water tanks, to amuse a human audience, are the recent conclusions of American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), which put together the largest constellation of scientists of the world at a meeting in Vancouver, Canada. AAAS recognized that whales and dolphins should be considered as “nonhuman persons” and should not be exploited commercially, requiring all water parks cease the use of these animals.
A request was also made to the European Parliament, which accepted it and will discuss it in the next few days.
