Volunteering work became mission

CENTER FOR GREAT APES

Twenty years ago, according to Patti Ragan, she did a volunteer work of taking care of a baby orangutan and after, of a baby chimpanzee. That volunteering work, which was also a hobby, could last a few months, but ended up converting in the mission of her life. Her dedication is now permanent and she hosts more than 40 great primates in her sanctuary in Wauchula, Florida.

On August 16, Pongo, her baby orangutan, completed 19 years old and one day before, Grub, her baby chimpanzee, was 18. She is very proud of these two magnificent and strong beings who gave the start to her life project. Supported by several collaborators and people who admire the work, Patti Ragan built this fantastic sanctuary, which recently we were privileged to visit and where many primates, Hollywood stars and former workers of North-American entertainment industry, are together with Pongo and Grub and with this wonderful woman who free these extraordinary beings of slavery.
