NGO "STOP ANIMAL EXPLOITATION NOW", from Ohio made a denounce to North American Agriculture Department asking for the investigation of abuse and torture practiced in a private lab of medical experimentation that happens to receive federal funds for its operations. This labs name is New Iberia Research Center, in the city of Lafayette, Louisiana.
 
In the alert letter of the organization, the lab is accused of wrong procedures that would have taken nine primates to death in the last few years, not to mention that a lot is suffering with diseases that have no right diagnosis or treatment.

One of the reported cases mentions that chimpanzee Budkie, who died in November 2007 and had been ill since 2005, had never received treatment, despite the fact of having muscle atrophy, liquid in his belly and heart problems.

Other chimpanzee, who died in August 2006, had a vasectomy a few days before, with no need, as long as he had heart problems. A third chimpanzee also died without treatment of his gastric problems.

The letter also denounces auto mutilation problems, stress and attacks of mothers against their babies, probably caused by psychological problems motivated by the terrible life conditions to which they are submitted.
 
A speak-person of New Iberia research center declared that the lab had not received any notification of the Government yet, or that an investigation was being opened.
 
This medical experimentation lab, together with other two that are similar, is being denounced to the Government by several NGOs. GAP Project sent an official denounce to USA President, asking for the labs to be closed.
