Mika was the alpha male of Ngamba Island  Sanctuary. Two weeks ago, he disappeared into the forest after breakfast . It had never happened  an absence so long like that . When it counted 10 days of his disappearance , an intensive search was conducted , now with the help of the Wildlife Authority of Uganda .

During three days, they penetrated deep into all the jungles surrounding the island , over 95 acres of woods were covered , until finally they found the lifeless body of that extraordinary alpha male . The causes of the death are still a mystery and there is no conclusive theory yet.

Mika arrived at the sanctuary in October 1998 , coming from a Egyptian circus that was visiting Kampala, Uganda . It is estimated that he was born in 1992 . In 2004 , he was the fourth on the scale of the alpha males of the Sanctuary , then he helped Eddie to take the power that was Robbie’s and a little later he assumed leadership of the group, until his death, nine years later. He was a wise chimp who loved to show his power when he was in the woods with his group .

All his companions and keepers will miss him a lot .
