The moral bankruptcy of the city of Belo Horizonte
posted in 02 Jul 2014

The Municipality of Belo Horizonte city, in Brazil, has provided 42,000 dollars for the year 2014 to care for abandoned dogs and cats, estimated at 8,000 individuals in the city. Meanwhile the same Mayor, who recognizes that the city cannot even sustain a kennel to care for pets, spends millions to bring gorillas and other animals from England and Spain to the zoo, at a cost that could solve the problem of abandoned animals .

The worst of it is the lack of respect that the authorities show with the administration of public money by not applying it in important and emergency causes such as a Zoonosis centre equipped to castrate, medicate and give shelter to the homeless animals in the city.

They contract this service by giving very few money to  NGO “Focinhos Carentes”, which does the work the city should do.
