The list of shame: the last 1000, where are them?
posted in 26 Mar 2013

For almost 100 years, chimpanzees have been used in biomedical and behavioral research in United States, the last industrialized country to do these nonsense experiments.

Today, 1000 chimpanzees live in five medical experiment centers. Four of them still use the apes in biomedical experimentation and only one, Alamogordo Primate Facility, keep them without using, until NIH (National Institute of Health) defines their destiny.

A list, in alphabetical order (some have names e others are identified with numbers), with the place tehy are kept and the date they arrived (a lot of times, the dates they were born) is on the internet for everyone’s knowledge. Check the link bellow:

The institutions that host these unfortunate beings are:

YNPRC – Yerkes National Primate Research Center (Emory University)
NIRC – New Iberia Research Center
MEKC – Michaele E. Keeling Center
SNPRC – Southwest National Research Center
APF – Alamogordo Primate Facility
CH – Chimp Haven – Federal Sanctuary (where the chimpanzees are sent to after they are retired)
