SEVERAL DEAD ANIMALS
At this time it happened in Bangkok, Tailand, in a zoo called Talad. With no evacuation plan, when the floods got into the zoo on April 7th the effort of the keepers to save the animals had no result.
100 birds, 50 snakes, 5 crocodiles and one deer died in the tragedy; six alligators disappeared, which is causing panic to local dwellers.
The keepers described the tragedy with the birds, which were inside cages. As long as they were domesticated, did not know how to fly and died in their own prison.
Everyday people question: what is the purpose of keeping millions of animals in cages with the excuse of environmental education and entertainment? In fact, living in a created captivity these animals do not represent their species anymore and are only caricatures of their equals in the wild.
We hope that the recent death of two chimpanzees in a zoo in Pomerode, south of Brazil, and this case in Tailand can be an alert to convert zoos in conservation units, with no public visitation, so they can fulfill their real function in each country.
