Playing with danger

DEATH AT SEAWORLD

“I told them this would happen. Happy animals do not kill their trainers”. This declaration was made by Russ Rector, a dolphin trainer from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, who converted in a defender of these marine animals.

He alerted in a letter Seaworld, in Orlando, about the danger they were facing by keeping Tilikum, a male whale of 6 tons and more than 7 meters length, in the show of the park. These marine mammals are very intelligent. And to living beings who live in societies, to be kept for years in water tanks and avoided to socialize with others of their species and to swim in deep waters and extensions result in a stress that can end up in tragedy.

Trainer Dawn Brancheau was one of the most experienced in the area and in minutes was drowned by Tilikum, with no clear reason.

Human beings continue to insist in playing with danger, by controlling, training and abusing of wild animals, which should not be domesticated and have to live in their communities. The current cases of attacks of chimpanzees, bears, wild cats, with tragic consequences, are proof that is necessary to forbid, once for all, all these kind of shows with wild animals, who were not born to human amusement and entertainment.
