PASA 2011: Management Workshop in Europe
posted in 09 Feb 2011

PASA – Pan African Sanctuaries Alliance promotes every year a Work Meeting about sanctuaries’ management, where the participants discuss subjects such as illegal trade, crisis response, reintroduction, strategic partnerships, volunteer coordination, and long-term planning.

These workshops are usually held in Africa, but every two years the idea is to do it in another continent. In 2009 the meeting was in USA and now, in 2011, it will be in Kent, at United Kingdon.

According to PASA Executive Director, Doug Cress, “The PASA 2011 Management Workshop will provide us a unique opportunity connect with the European community.” And added: “PASA recognizes that there is a wealth of information and support outside of
Africa that we need to tap, and we believe the United Kingdom is a country of great importance. We are excited by the prospect of reaching a new audience.”

The meeting is Schedule for May 2 – 6 and will be hosted by the PortLympneWildAnimalPark. It Twas chosen as the host site due to its long-standing relationship with PASA through The Apsinal Foundation charity. The Aspinall Foundation supports two charter members of PASA: the Projet Protection des Gorilles (PPG) facilities in Gabon and Congo.

Representatives of African Sanctuaries and important people of Great Primates Protection work will be at the workshop.
