GAP Project Spain (PGS), together with a lot of organizations, has been denouncing this culture, which is destroying big regions of Sumatra and Borneo, home of orangutans. They are being extinguished when they loose their habitat, not to mention the consequences of that the vanishing of forests causes to climate change.
This victory against this silent enemy, which eradicates a lot of forests and biodiversity in the world, is being celebrated now. And this has been motivating GAP Project Spain to demand from the Government of the country that it does not subsidize this monoculture anymore. In the next European Union Presidency, Spain’s representatives would be able to take this achievement to all countries of the continent, so that they do not support this criminal and nature destruction culture.
Director of GAP Project Spain, Pedro Pozas Terrados, makes a call to all environment organizations in different countries to promote this prohibition approved by World Bank, asking to each country to support it putting off any financial fund that promotes this culture.
