With the progression of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the health, safety, and well-being of all the 50 chimpanzees, guests and staff remain our top priority.
We are working closely with medical professionals, specialists and Uganda’s Ministry of Health regarding the necessary precautions to keep Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary secure and protected from the recent outbreak and follow the guidelines issued by the World Health Organization (WHO).
We have as well introduced disinfection of our boats before passenger’s board and when they disembark. Hand sanitizers, masks, and thermometers are also available and checks are being done on arrival at the Sanctuary.
Our staff have already been briefed and educated about prevention with the emphasis on frequent and proper hand washing and use of personal protective wear like masks and gloves. To ensure that the highest possible hygiene standards are maintained throughout every aspect of our daily work.
In line with current government guidance, we are continuing to operate as usual. We will continue to keep in touch with you and follow the official guidance from the Ministry of Health.
We remain deeply committed to the safety of the 50 Chimpanzees, our employees, families, communities and you, our customers. We look forward to continuing to support you through this challenge and well into the future.
