VIOLENCE IN MOZAMBIQUE

On September 1st popular protests exploded in
Maputo, capital of Mozambique, and in other cities of the country due to the rising in the prices of bread and electricity. Cars were burn, ten people were killed, hundreds were arrested and the public force went to the streets to hold back new protests.

The situation in Mozambique is critical due to lack of employment and rising in the price of food. In Zambia there were also protests with stoning in vehicles.

Ana Alonso, GAP delegate in
Mozambique, had to abandon as far as she could the country, going to South Africa, as long as the work she has been doing, fighting against big companies that destroy forests, put her ion political sight at the country.

Africa lives a terrible situation of misery and abandon and the last news from Congo is the rising in rapes, which doubled in the last weeks, when the war among groups intensified. Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is the country with more primates biodiversity in Africa and put in risk the survivors populations.

A communication from GAP Project
Spain, which follows closely the situation in Africa, alerts press to spread clear information of what is happening there. The majority of the countries controlled by corrupted governments sell their wealth very quickly. If this is not avoided, in a few years great primates are going to disappear from African continent.
