Malaysia: zoos are denounced for animal mistreating
posted in 19 May 2011

Apart from the great number of denounces coming from several organizations against Malaysia Government, nothing is done to avoid that zoos in this country continue to mistreat animals. The last denounce, from NGO Nature Alert, points the case of orangutans that fight for cigarettes’ butts thrown by visitors for their fun.

Shirley, a 25-year-old female and her partner dispute the butts and food also thrown by visitors into their enclosure, with no control at all of the zoo managers.

Director of Nature Alert, Sean White, declared: “ I saw cigarettes, bottles, food and every kind of packages inside the enclosure, which makes the place where Shirley lives very dirty”.

It is necessary that all NGOs and people who defend animals to protest against Malaysia Government and its representation in each country to put an end in the practice of animal abusing at the zoos in the country.
