GREAT APE TRUST SANCTUARY
Kanzi is the most famous bonobo of the world. His intelligence and self-assurance in the work with language experts at Great Ape Trust Sanctuary, in Iowa, United States, have already been shown a lot in the press. And even resulted in a book – “Kanzi”, by Dr. Sue Savage-Rumbaugh, the tutor of this extraordinary bonobo for decades.
Now Kanzi is the father of a baby that has been born on June 1st, whose mother name is Elykia. He is the first son of Kanzi and the name chosen for this special bonobo is Teco. It corresponds to the first letters of Townsend Engineering Company, from city DesMoines, owned by the founder of the sanctuary, Ted Townsend. In the lexigrams language used by bonobos to communicate with the scientists and among them, the name Teco is already drawned beside.
Teco will probably overcome his father in evolutionary terms and will be an endless source of scientific work for language scientists.
