The area where the Great Ape Sanctuary is located in Sorocaba, near Castelo Branco highway, is also close to an area of upscale condominiums, which generates considerable traffic of helicopters, especially on weekends, and this is beginning to disturb the animals who live there.
In the last few weeks, helicopters, mainly, have been flying over the enclosures of the sanctuary, repeatedly, with flybys that impact the environment. In the sanctuary, the enclosures are open, unlike zoos and parks, where animals are caged and cannot be appreciated from above.
Due to the this situation, we have already sent a complaint to the Regional Flight Protection Service of São Paulo – SRPV, including photographic identification of the helicopter that made flybys over the sanctuary for 10 minutes once.
The more than 250 beings who live in Sorocaba Sanctuary deserve due respect and the invasion of their airspace is an assault against their integrity, which the competent authorities should curb.
