INTERNATIONAL DENNOUNCE

In the province of Camaguey, Cuba, there is a female chimpanzee in a small zoo who is, approximately, 30 years old; she is lonely, in a concrete and iron cage, which is the ultimate expression of abandonment and despair of an intelligent being who should never live that way.

The Cuban government recently signed an agreement with the Government of Namibia, Africa, to capture 150 species of large animals that live free in the nature to put them in cages in Cuban zoos.

The destination of this chimpanzee – who, according to the complaint of visitors, has a swollen leg that may indicate a serious infection – is the same of that ones who will be captured in Africa for display in Cuban zoos.

Write to Cuban authorities and international organizations that defend great apes rights, requesting that the chimpanzee, as well as all the animals in Cuban zoos,  is well treated and respected. It’s the least that those who govern the Island for over 50 years should do for innocent beings under their tyrannical power.
