Help Great Apes out of Mass Media

Message from Jane Goodall Institute

Dear Friend,

Do you remember Travis the chimpanzee?

It’s only been a few months since Travis’ untimely death following his attack on his caretaker’s friend.  As we continue to see more and more instances of chimpanzees working in the entertainment industry, we have to wonder…are there other tragedies like the Travis incident waiting to happen?
Chimpanzees can never be completely domesticated.

The human brain is more highly developed than that of any other living creature.  So why can’t we learn that great apes should not work in the entertainment industry and that they don’t make good pets?
The Jane Goodall Institute plans to contact media and entertainment companies and ask them to take our “No Apes in Entertainment” pledge.  In fact, we already reached out to E! Entertainment’s president to voice our concerns about the chimpanzee recently featured on “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”

But maintaining this kind of pressure can be costly.  The Jane Goodall Institute does not have far-reaching resources like giant media and entertainment companies.  We need to be sure that we have the funds necessary to make this campaign a success.

To meet our budget goal for this campaign, we need to raise at least $25,000.  Would you be willing to help by making a gift of just $25?
