Gorilla “TV star” dies in Rwanda

Gorilla Titus, who stared TV programmes and movies in Hollywood, died this week of old age, with 35 years old

Titus became famous when he appeared at BBC documentary Life on Earth, in 1979.

Years later, the gorilla appeared in a
Hollywood movie about the life of American zoologist Dian Fossey – “On the mountains with gorillas”, staring Sigourney Weaver in the main role.

Titus was the king of the gorillas in
VolcanoNational Park, in Rwanda, and participated during all his life of scientific researches.

NaturalParks and Tourism Agency of Rwanda declared in a communication that “Titus was not only the most powerful of the golden backs of the park, but also was one of the most famous gorillas of the world.”

In 2008, BBC produced a documentary called “Titus, The Gorilla King”, which told the whole story life of the ape – from an abandoned baby to a leader in the mountains.
