Gorilla baby is rescued by African Sanctuary
posted in 14 Aug 2012

A baby gorilla who is about two years old, and who used to be an attraction at a restaurant in Equatorial Guinea, was confiscated by environmental authorities of the Government and taken to an African Sanctuary in Cameroon, which is a member of PASA – Pan African Sanctuaries Alliance.

The Organization Ape Action Africa (AAA) was in charge of transporting the baby gorilla, who will be integrated to a group of her kind in the lowland gorilla Mefou National Park.

Both PASA and AAA congratulated the Government of Equatorial Guinea for its first action of repression on smuggling of primates. This baby gorilla was a victim of the murder of her parents, who were sold as meat for consumption of human populations. The Government of Equatorial Guinea gave an example that does not tolerate that its territory is used for this nefarious practice.
