In the campaign of free great apes and cetaceans, GAP Project Spain sent a denounce to Nature Protection Agency and to ‘Seprona’ (Civil Guard Nature Protection Service, in Spanish) of the country, listing several irregularities of Spanish aquatic parks.

Director of GAP Spain, Pedro Pozas Terrados, declared in the occasion that: “Once more we ask for the aquatic parks in Spain that keep dolphins and orca whales to be closed, because they work as circuses shows, with no educational purpose and stress the animals, with no respect at all”. Giving examples of other countries Pozas affirms that since 1993, United Kingdom closed 30 aquatic parks; in Chile the exhibition of dolphins is considered a crime, and also in Hungary and India ; in Turkey all the parks were closed; and in Israel and Argentina it is forbid the importation of these great cetaceans.

The parks listed in the denounce are: Aqualand and Palmitos Park, in Palmas, and Siam Park, in Tenerife.
