Peter Singer, Australian philosopher, and Paola Cavalieri, Italian philosopher, created in 1994 the GAP – Great Ape Project, together with other scientists and personalities renowned internationally.

Giordano Bruno Foundation (Giordano Bruno Stifungs), created in 2004 in Germany, has as the main purpose to promote evolutionary humanism in the world.

Peter Singer and Paola Cavalieri wil be awarded with the prize “Ethics Award” of the foundation in June 3rd at Frankfurt National Libray, valued in 10 thousand euros, for their commitment in the fight for the rights of animals, specially for creating GAP Project to defend great primates all over the world.

Michael Schmidt-Salomon, President of the German foundation, explained the choice for the two philosophers: “Peter Singer is a very controversial character in Germany. In the 90’s it was developed shameful campaign against him, considering fake interpretations and wicked affirmations about what he defended. In those times Giordano Bruno Foundation did not exit yet, to defend him. Today I am convinced that those who read and understood the books written by Peter Singer will come to the conclusion that he is one the greatest scientists of our times, for showing his ideas clearly and attract people to them. Unfortunately a lot of other visionary scientists were not respected in their times. On the contrary, they were rejected. Today Peter Singer is in good company.”

Today Peter Singer is he honorary President of GAP Project, which make us proud to share with him the same ideas.
