Dolphins are retired in Italy

Robin, Teide, Betty and Nau are names of dolphins that took an audience of 759 thousand viewers per season to visit the Italian park Palablu Gardaland. They are being retired now of their slave labor for the purpose of human entertainment.

The British company Merlin Entertainments, which runs the park, decided, on its own initiative, to take those aquatic animals of their daily work, considering that contradicts its principles and ecological coherence of the defense of the animals.

The organization Animanaturalis published an article in which it quotes a few words of the Director of the Italian park, Danilo Santi, who justified the decision: “The company Merlin has in its genetic code a policy of deep respect for animals and the decision to say goodbye to swim parks swim with dolphins is consistent with this thinking”.

The environmentalist world hopes that this decision will encourage owners of North American water parks, where terrible accidents happened recently, and that they start to follow that same path and stop the exploitation of dolphins, whales and cetaceans in general for human amusement.
