Claudine André wins award for bonobos
posted in 09 May 2013

Claudine André, since 2002, maintains a sanctuary in Kinshasa (DRC), which hosts mainly chimpanzees bonobos, which are found only in that country, south of the Congo River, where they live isolated.

Claudine is one of the founders of PASA, She is responsible for having hundreds of chimpanzees rescued from the hands of poachers and traffickers  and in 2010 initiated a project of releasing them in nature, which so far is working.

For her work, the Columbus zoo, which has instituted an annual award of $ 50,000 for those who highlight in Conservation Programs, decided to give this award to her this year, which will be one more incentive for her to continue the tirelessly fight for the survival of the bonobo chimpanzees.
