Chimpanzees from Israel are in their way to GAP Brazilian affiliated sanctuary

February, 14, 2012 – São Paulo: After months of negotiation between Brazilian and Israeli organizations, female chimpanzees Judy and Gena finally left Israel and arrive in Brazil tomorrow morning, where they will live at GAP Brazilian affiliated sanctuary of Paraná, sponsored by Anami Conservationist Institute.

Judy and Gena live in a bad structured zoo and were rescued by Israeli Primate Sanctuary, through Dr. Tamar Freedman. Other two chimpanzees of the same zoo were rescued and transferred to the same Brazilian sanctuary in 2010.

The chimpanzees embarked today in Telaviv, will make a connection is Switzerland and must arrive in São Paulo international airport tomorrow morning. A veterinarian of the Israeli organization is accompanying the chimps in the trip.

It is worth pointing that Swiss Air, Air Company that is conducting the transport, demand a lot of documents to prove that the chimpanzees were really going to a sanctuary, and not to medical experiments. The company only accepted the transport after all the documents were presented. This was completely different from a recent denounce against Brazilian air company TAM, which accepted to do the transport of monkeys to medical experimentation in USA – https://www.projetogap.org.br/en-US/noticias/Show/4142,brazilian-air-company-tam-is-denounced-for-transport-of-animals-to-medical-experimentation
