Today, GAP Project Brazil was informed about the death of the chimpanzee Martin, who lived in the Buenos Aires Zoo, currently converted into an ecopark. In 2017, NGO AFADA (Association of Employees and Lawyers for the Rights of Animals) filed a request for Habeas Corpus in court to transfer him, his partner, Sasha, and his son, Kangoo, to the Great Primates Sanctuary of Sorocaba, SP, Brazil, but was not successful.

We deeply regret Martin’s death and hope that a negotiation for the transfer of Sasha and Kangoo is still possible. The Sanctuary is prepared to welcome and introduce them to the resident chimpanzee community.

“..Murió el Chimpancé MARTÍN..”

Días atrás, avisaron  a AFADA una Muy Triste Noticia: que el Chimpancé MARTIN (del Ecoparque de Bs.As.) apareció MUERTO en su Jaula, al parecer, por haber sufrido un “Paro Cardio Respiratorio”, sin haber podido NUNCA, lograr su Liberación y Rehabilitación en el Santuario de Grandes Primates de Sorocaba (Brasil), cuando a fines del año 2017 nuestra Asociación, hizo todo lo posible para lograr aquellos fines.

Todavía siguen “Privados de su Libertad (en el mismo lugar), su pareja SASHA y su hijo KANGOO, sin que el Gobierno de la Ciudad de Bs.As., y mucho menos, el Ecoparque, hayan realizado alguna diligencia (Urgente y Sensata) para lograr aquellos “Objetivos”.

Para AFADA, aquella lucha “NUNCA ESTUVO PERDIDA”, por lo que a través de los “Mecanismos Legales” correspondientes, seguiremos intentando la Liberación y Rehabilitación de aquellos Primates, simplemente porque ellos, merecen ser respetados en todos sus Derechos Básicos Fundamentales.
