Catalunya: example for the world!
posted in 29 Jul 2010

A historical decision took place on July 28 at the region of Catalunya – for some, in Spain, and for others, an independent region. No matter political-regional fights, it is important to celebrate the victory of the good sense: the ban of bullfighting.

Although it is considered a cultural patrimony, it is not acceptable this absurd practice in XXI century. Bullfighting is a symbol of an outmoded time, when fake national heroes were created. Due to the suffering of an animal that is provoked, those stick metal strips on the back of the animal and watch him bleed and dying little by little, being witnessed by a sadist audience, which is accomplice of such meanness.

Unfortunately only Catalunya and Canarian Islands took this memorable decision of extinguish such bizarre show. But their action works as an example that can sensitize other people and encourage new mobilizations not only against bullfighting, but also against the use of animals in circuses, events in general that use animals in an arena and even against the hidden abuses that happen in some zoos. It is the hope that someday humans use their rationality not only for their own interests, but to defend other living beings that need our help.

Finally the day of the bull arrived…
