TRAVIS CASE, USA

Environmental Protection Department of North-American state of Connecticut is being sued by Carla Nash, who had been attacked by chimpanzee Travis in the beginning of the year. The department is being charged for negligence, because it was allowed that the chimpanzee lived in a family house with no security. She requests an indemnity of USD 150 million.

Charles Willinger, Carla Nash’s attorney – she is still at the hospital in
Cleveland – accuses the department of no confiscation of chimpanzee Travis in the Sandra Herold’s house, Nash’s friend. Biologists had already warned about the imminent possibility of an incident.

Carla Nash has a website, produced by her family, called “Friend of Carla Nash”. In this site they comment and absolve the chimpanzee of being guilty for the attack, as long as he lived “in a cage and in a mental torture state.”

The district attorney will analyze the case to decide if the accusation of negligence against the state proceeds.

Carla Nash is also sueing Sandra Harold and asks for thousand of dollars, claiming she was responsible for the attack.

Nash is practically blind, has no hands and is defaced due to Travis’ attack. He ended up being shot to death by the state police.
