PARANÁ SANCTUARY

Bicco is the last chimpanzee who came to Paraná Sanctuary, managed by Anami Institute and affiliated to GAP Project. Bicco never had contact with chimpanzees and the attempt to join him with a group of several females and a young male did not work when he panicked and began to develop an emotional gastritis.

Bicco returned to his enclosure of origin, which was temporary, and the sanctuary began to build a special enclosure for him, with all the latest building technologies developed at sanctuaries.

On July 9, Bicco voluntarily entered the shipping box and was transferred quickly to his new and extraordinary enclosure, away from the chimpanzees he fears. In a near future, he will join a young female, who slowly will bring him back to his primate world.

The new enclosure has heating for the cold nights of Paraná state and a huge outdoor patio, with toys and a view of the Birds Water Park, which reduce boredom and loneliness until he has his new companion.
