Brazilian newspaper “Valor Econômico” published this week an article about a project already approved and underway in the country, with federal and Santa Catarina state Government funding, with the participation and cooperation of multinational pharmaceutical companies, that can convert Brazil into a Giant Center of Animal Experimentation.
North America is the world leader in animal experimentation, both for biomedical research and for toxicological testing and quality control of medicines, cosmetics and sanitizing. The domestic and global pressure for the Americans cease torturing animals for industrial purposes, is alarming organs such as NIH (North American National Health Institute), which finances, directs and manages the animal torture in that country.
If the absurd experiments done by scientist Nicolelis with small primates that have the support of local bankers were not enough – the scientist became a famous figure and has free transit in Brazilian Government – now, with the excuse that Brazil does not have a National Center for toxicological testing its medical, health and beauty products, a center will be established in Santa Catarina state, with public money and without any public consultation, and this center will lead us to become a “backyard” of North- American medical torture.
The extensive article published in the newspaper talks about training of our technicians in animal torture centers in the United States and Germany, to learn the techniques and procedures to be implemented here.
For now it has been talking about rats and mice, and millionaire investment in them; then there will be larger animals (dogs, rabbits, pigs and primates), which will also be used in the experiments.
We warn all the animal organizations, all environmentalists and politicians committed to the cause of animals’ rights to pay attention to this project that the Government of Santa Catarina, with Federal support and funding of our public banks, is already deploying.
Nobody has the right to turn Brazil, which has one of the richest biodiversity of the planet, into a submissive assistant of the complex North American Industrial Company, which will only generate profits for those who developed and invested in it. People will be, as always, a mere spectator and sponsor of the megalomaniac projects done by the “smart humans”.
