NGO NEAVS, which a few years ago launched the Project R & R to free chimpanzees of medical torture in North American laboratories, is celebrating this week “The Primate Liberation Week”. Project R & R, in conjunction with other organizations, including GAP Project, has achieved that NIH – National Health Institute – stop funding the torture of chimps and retire them in an official Sanctuary; 280 of these primates have been released of torture.
But the fight is not over. According to NEAVS, there are still 100,000 non-human primates in North American torture laboratories, no one cares about them; they suffer a lot of pain and a life of reclusion in bloody hands of human tormentors. These include all species of smaller primates, such as rhesus monkeys, baboons and dozens of other species.
NEAVS is warning the world that the fight is not over yet and this impressive number of monkeys continues to suffer terribly, with neither the government nor the majority of animal welfare organizations caring about them.
It is unbelievable that a major world country still continues torturing this immense amount of beings, without any utility, just to enrich torture centers that keeps them and charge high for this disgusting service.
