No dia 12 de julho de 2007 Mel nasceu. Sua mãe, Megan, tinha somente 8 anos de idade e ela própria ainda era quase um bebê. Tristemente, Megan não teve interesse em Mel e não queria nem tocá-la. Então o Santuário se converteu em mãe adotiva.

Mel precisava de 24 horas de cuidados e uma mamadeira a cada duas horas. A grande dúvida era como os humanos cuidariam de Mel de uma forma que garantisse sua devolução posteriormente à sua mãe biológica. Esta é a história fantástica de Mel e seu re-encontro com sua mãe quase também um bebê.

LA FANTÁSTICA JORNADA DE MEL

El dia 12 de Julio de 2007 Mel nació. Su madre, Megan, tenía solamente 8 años de edad y ella propia era también casi un bebe. Tristemente, Megan no tuvo interes en Mel y no la quizo ni tocar. Entonces, el Santuario se tuvo que convertir en la madre adoptiva.

Mel requería atención 24 horas, y un biberon cada dos horas. La gran duda era cómo los humanos cuidarían de Mel de una forma que garantizase su devolución posterior a su madre biologica. Esta es la historia fantástica de Mel y su reencuentro con su madre casi también un bebe.

Mel’s Amazing Journey

On July 12, 2007, Mel was born. Her mother, Megan, was 8 years old and nearly a baby herself. Sadly, Megan had no interest in Mel and refused to even touch her. That meant Save the Chimps had to care for Mel.

She required 24-hour care and a bottle every two hours. How could humans raise Mel and still make sure they could eventually introduce her to a family of chimps? This is the story of Mel’s amazing journey.
